Choose the system before planning the work

Click-lock and glue-down vinyl are different installation systems. The selected product determines the substrate requirements, permitted underlay, adhesive where applicable and any restrictions around fixed cabinetry or heating. Tell us where the floor will be installed and share the product instructions if you already have material.

Look closely at the existing floor

A new surface does not make a damaged or uneven base disappear. During planning we discuss the current floor, areas of movement, visible damage, floor heights and signs of moisture. Whether an existing covering can stay depends on its condition and the requirements of the new floor. Removal and repair work should be identified in the written scope.

The details worth deciding early

• Where the plank layout begins and how it continues between rooms.
• How doorways, stairs and changes of material will be finished.
• Whether baseboards are being retained, replaced or supplemented with trim.
• What access is needed for deliveries and installation.
• When furniture and appliances can be returned under the product instructions.

Questions before you book

Does waterproof vinyl solve a leak? No. We discuss the selected product’s specific water claims and warranty, but a floor covering is not a repair for plumbing leaks or an underlying moisture problem.

Can it be installed in a condo? Share the building’s flooring and renovation requirements before ordering. The proposed floor assembly and work arrangements need to be assessed against those requirements.

Will the quoted area equal the amount ordered? Layout, cuts and spare material can affect the order quantity. Ask for the measured area and proposed purchase quantity to be explained separately.
