Stair flooring & finishing

Connect the whole home

Stairs sit at the meeting point of rooms, levels and materials. The Six Flooring & Co offers stair flooring and finishing installation, helping you consider how the stair surface will connect with the floors above and below. We can discuss wood finishes, suitable stair systems and carpet options.

Measure the detail, not just the floor area

Stair work cannot be planned accurately from a room’s square footage alone. Individual treads, risers, landings, edges and the existing construction need review. Share photographs of the whole staircase and any turns or open sides, then arrange an assessment before ordering material.

Confirm the scope before choosing accessories

We discuss the desired finish, compatible nosing profiles, how edges are treated and the transition at each landing. The product and installation approach must suit stair use. A flooring plank that works in a room should not automatically be assumed suitable as a stair tread.

Changes to stair geometry, railings or the structure need separate assessment. We identify those questions rather than treating structural changes as routine floor installation.

Plan for access

• Discuss how the staircase will be used while work is underway.
• Identify removal, disposal and any repairs in the written scope.
• Confirm materials for treads, risers, landings and nosings.
• Agree on colour matching expectations between different products.
• Follow the specified return-to-use instructions after installation.

Questions before you book

Can the stairs match my new floor? We look at compatible options and samples. Different components can vary in tone and grain, so an exact match should be reviewed rather than assumed.

Can you quote from photographs? Photos help begin the conversation. Detailed stair measurements and the existing conditions are needed to confirm the work.

Is railing replacement included? Only if it is separately discussed and included in the agreed scope. Tell us about the whole project so the boundaries are clear.
